As a result of the deal, the Vancouver-based miner expects to incur a one-time, after-tax $C4 million charge to its profit in the 2012 third-quarter.

Teck鈥檚 Cardinal River complex includes the Luscar and Cheviot truck-and-shovel mines which produce mostly metallurgical coal with an annual capacity of 2 million tons per annum.
Cardinal River is located near Alberta鈥檚 Jasper National Park and the historic town site of Mountain Park.
At 2011 production rates, Teck estimates a mine life of 28 years for the site.
