Templeton has been president since 1993 and will serve as chairman and chief executive officer through to the end of the year.

Brighton has been a Templeton Coal director since 2008.

He spent two years as president of Hulman and Company, where he also served as executive vice president and general counsel since 1994.

Prior to working with Hulman, Brighton was a private practice attorney in general civil practice.

He has provided executive leadership to Lynch Coal Operators Reciprocal Association since 1985.

The graduate of Indiana State University and the Drake University Law School also has extensive service on boards of directors of coal-related businesses, as well as financial institutions, healthcare organisations, and business trade associations.

Templeton Coal was established in 1920 by Scottish immigrant John A Templeton. Its holdings include mining interests in Sullivan and Knox counties in Indiana, as well as ownership in subsidiary companies Glas-Col, Dicksons and Plumb Supply Company.
