The theme for the two-day event is 鈥淢aking a Difference鈥�. Several general sessions will be held that will cover items of interest for all types of mining, including coal.
Among the topics on March 30 are 鈥淓yes, Ears, Brains, Slips, Trips and Falls鈥�, presented by Carl Metzgar, 鈥淐ost of an Accident鈥� by T Scott Hartness of Hanson Aggregates and 鈥淎 Risk-Based Approach to Equipment Guarding鈥�, which will be discussed by L Harvey Kirk of the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
During the second and final day of the conference, attorney Adele Abrams will present 鈥淪ubstance Abuse Prevention in the Mining Industry鈥�. Another highlight to the agenda taking place shortly before the noon adjournment will be 鈥淭he Key to Mine Emergency Management 鈥� Recognise, React and Respond鈥�, given by Tracy Delude of the Associated General Contractors of Vermont.
