NBS, which employs 75 workers, has a head office in Bessemer, Alabama, but also has facilities in Atlanta, Georgia and Charleston and Wheeling, West Virginia to produce almost $US20 million in revenue annually.
Upon the transaction's completion Veyance will have the capability to provide services both in the United States and Canada.
“Our expanding presence in services helps us provide our distributors and their customers with value-added support," said Veyance industrial services general manager Bret Hall.
“This acquisition gives us a more comprehensive conveyor belt solution for end users."
The purchase of NBS is the second acquisition for Veyance which aids in broadening its coal mining industry foothold for installation, splice and repair services. In February, the company took over Virginia coal belt service firm Monk Mining Supply.
“Veyance's growth in the coal mining service industry complements its Goodyear-branded conveyor belt and splice kit line-up," the company said.
Added Hall: "Involvement in more facets of conveyor systems gives the company additional expertise that accelerates its product development and technology. Our direct link to belt installations and repairs also strengthens a mine's preventive maintenance program, which can improve its production schedule."
Hall also noted that linking NBS to its sales of Goodyear-branded belt will give its distribution circle a "comprehensive package" and complements its already existing distributor network
“The support that they can provide to their coal mine customers expands as we grow our service offerings," he said.
In April, Veyance broke ground on an $18 million project to expand its flagship conveyor belt plant in Marysville, Ohio. The work will allow the company to add new process technology and equipment for its heavy-duty grade belts.
