The latest statistics from Coal Services for the three months ended March 2003 show a few standout results with three mines producing more than one million tonnes for the quarter.
Queensland mine Moranbah North topped the ladder, closely followed by fellow-Queenslanders Crinum, with 1.14Mt and Newlands, with 1.11Mt. The next best performer was Rio Tinto’s Kestrel that produced 0.99Mt.
In New South Wales, Dartbrook produced 0.92Mt from longwall number nine, followed by Baal Bone with 0.81Mt from longwall number 22. To climb the production table Dartbrook increased its output significantly from the previous period, jumping 61%.
Back in Queensland, Oaky Creek No1 produced 0.87Mt, up from 0.65Mt the previous quarter. The next best producers were German Creek Southern (0.74Mt), Appin (0.74Mt), North Goonyella (0.7Mt) and West Wallsend (0.66Mt).
