“Curragh’s hard coking coal benchmark price has remained largely flat over the three quarters to December 2014,” Wesfarmers Resources managing director Stewart Butel said.

“Curragh’s hard coking coal benchmark price for the October to December 2014 quarter does, however, reflect a US$37 per tonne or an approximate 25 per cent decrease from pricing in the October to December 2013 quarter, in line with market pricing.”

The mine produced 9.1 million tonnes of metallurgical coal in the September quarter – a 24.2% increase year on year.

It also produced 3.5Mt of thermal coal in the recent quarter which was a 7.1% year-on-year gain.
