The China Daily reported that at the time of the blast, 28 miners were underground, with nine injured in the explosion, three seriously.
The blast occurred early yesterday morning at the Aotian Coal Mine in Shilin Town, near the city of Yibin.
The newspaper reported today that all hospitalised miners were out of danger and were expected to recover.
Officials are now supervising the rescue and investigation efforts at the mine.
Sichuan Provincial Work Safety Supervision and Management Bureau said the mine was licensed and had an annual output of about 60,000 tonnes.
The search for the two missing miners is continuing.
