The announcement comes amid leadership changes pending the acquisition of Sherritt International’s Canadian assets.

Alessi held the role of CEO for five years until 2013.

Richard Klingaman has also resumed his role as board chairman. He wa chairman from 2009 to 2013, and has served as lead independent director since Q2 2013.

When the Sherritt transaction is complete, Alessi will become interim president for Canadian operations.
