Garland has been appointed Saraji project executive and Murray Bailey has joined as chief operations officer. Both roles will “underpin and lead the significant expansion and growth plans of New Hope’s activities over the coming years”

Garland has worked at Macarthur Coal as vice-president of underground mine development and has also held the position of general manager for the North Goonyella and Burton Coal operations with Peabody Energy.

In other news, New Hope announced its subsidiary, Andrew Wright Holdings, yesterday acquired in full Queensland Bulk Handling.

New Hope bought the company in an attempt to circumvent coal chain bottlenecks being experienced across the east coast.

QBH is a coal ship loading facility at the Port of Brisbane which last year exported 4.2 million tonnes.

“QBH is fortunate to be essentially a dispatch port as its smaller scale and operational efficiencies have minimised the risk of shipping delays experienced by other Queensland and New South Wales coal loading ports,” the company said.
