International Coal News’ sister publication Energy News has oft-reported of late on the growth of small-scale LNG, particularly in Southeast Asia, a market in which GTT has been a major player, with new opportunities opening up for more economic and sustainable energy for mine sites, among other things.
The environment is at the heart of the priorities laid down in the country's 13th Five-Year Plan 2016-2020, aimed at reducing polluting emissions.
Through GTT China, the company will be able to move closer to its customers and partners in China, and to better respond to the country's growing LNG needs., GTT said this week.
GTT CEO and chairman Philippe Berterottiere said the collaboration between his company and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding had been an “LNG carrier construction success story” in China.
“GTT wants now to contribute to the development of LNG as a fuel in the country. This is why the company is opening an office in Shanghai,” he said.
GTT designs containment systems with cryogenic membranes used to transport and store liquefied gas, and in particular LNG.
For over 50 years, it has designed and offered to its customers technologies which allow them to optimise storage space and reduce the construction and operating costs of ships or tanks equipped with these systems.
