State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations Minister John Mickel and Member for Whitsunday Jan Jarratt attended the forum in Moranbah on Monday.
Mickel said the proposal of a neighbourhood hub would serve to develop the case for a collaborative partnership and service hub approach, to meet the needs of booming mining communities in the Bowen Basin.
He said the relevant government departments would review the proposal and report back at the next forum to be held in the region.
The regional representatives also raised the issues of further training for school students and adults, services for seniors in the region and crime prevention.
The forums are coordinated by the Queensland Department of Communities and are held four times per year.
“Forums are a great opportunity for all Queenslanders to get involved in the government decision-making process. Therefore, I encourage any locals who may be interested in becoming a regional representative for next year’s forums to contact the local Department of Communities office for details,” Mickel said.
